A special issue on Climate Change and Climate Smart Conservation in Protected Areas in Geography and Sustainability

Prof. Walter Musakwa and Dr. Regis Musavengane (University of Johannesburg, Johannesburg, South Africa) is organizing a special issue Climate Change and Climate Smart Conservation in Protected Areas in Geography and Sustainability 2023. The special issue aims to open a discussion on climate change, adaptation, and mitigation, focusing on climate-smart conservation strategies in protected areas. Discussions are open to varied thematic areas, including but not limited to implications of climate change on protected areas, human responses and climate change effects, limitations to adaptation (physical, economic, social) under future climate scenarios, the scalability of adaptations, co-benefits of climate change adaptation, maladaptation and adaptive governance, participatory modelling-reflexive inquiry on who participates, makes decisions, pays, and benefits from adaptation, climate change and artificial intelligence within and around protected areas, adaptive governance and climate change, collaborative management and climate change, large herbivores, predators, and climate change, the nexus between climate change and human-wildlife conflict.
